Dr. Lee Siew Siew, PhD
Lee Siew Siew, is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at the School of Biosciences, University of Nottingham Malaysia. She is a Life member of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM) and a registered nutritionist with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC). She is also a registered nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition, UK, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), UK.
Her main area of research is maternal and child nutrition. In particular, she is interested in elucidating the mechanism that underpins the effect of maternal nutrition on the programming of adult disease risk. Her current research focuses on the investigations of the syndemics of maternal micronutrient deficiencies, food insecurity, and the interplay between nutrition and mental health. She is also interested in how body composition associates with micronutrients status and influences pharmacokinetics of fat-soluble vitamins. Furthermore, she is working closely with multidisciplinary researchers to understand and address the critical issue of the food environment, aiming to foster sustainable and healthy diets.
